There are a few verbs in greek which obey none of the rules and must simply be learned, annoyingly these happen to be some of the most common and the most useful verbs you will encounter at GCSE

To Be[edit | edit source]

It has the infinitive ειναι and in the present it declines:

ειμι  -  I am
ει
εστι
εσμεν
εστε
εισι

In the imperfect:

η  -  I was
ησθα
ην
ημεν
ητε
ησαν

And in the future:

εσoμαι  -  I will be
εσῃ
εσται
εσoμεθα
εσεσθε
εσoνται
