There are 7 characteristics that all living things do. Non - living things may do some, but will not do all seven.
Movement[edit | edit source]
Movement: Changing the position of parts of the organism or the whole organism in response to stimuli from the environment
Reproduction[edit | edit source]
All living things reproduce in order to continue the species.
Sensitivity[edit | edit source]
All living organisms can sense changes in their surroundings, and therefore respond to them. Changes sensed include temperature, sound, chemical presence and many others depending on the organism
Nutrition[edit | edit source]
Living Organisms need to feed to grow and for a source of energy.
Excretion[edit | edit source]
Respiration[edit | edit source]
Growth[edit | edit source]
Some of the food taken in is used to help cells grow and to build new cells. Thus the organism gets larger.
