Metallic Bonding is often described as the metal ions swimming in a sea of electrons. This explains why metal conduct electricity so well.

metallic bonding occurs in metals & is when electrons are given out from the metal atoms to make a sea of free electrons in between all of the metal atoms. The free electrons make it possible for electricity to be transfered easily. This is because the metal atoms have lost an electron and now have a positive charge.
